The Hub in Strachur is an excellent example of what can be achieved when a community comes together to improve the quality of life for its members.  The Hub was the idea of Nurse Practitioner Sister Kate Paton who joined forces with Heather Grier to raise funding for a centre where people can come along and benefit from the stimulation of company, exercise, and a blether over lunch.

STRUAN LODGE - A DAUGHTER'S ANGUISH

A Blairmore woman has vowed to chain herself to her mother’s bed if she is ‘evicted for her home’ at Struan Lodge.

 

Catherine Rae’s 91-year-old mother Josephine, who has dementia and cancer, has been living in Struan Lodge for two and a half years after being cared for by Catherine for five years.

TRANSPORT Minister Humza Yousaf today (Friday) announced the publication of the contract notice for the Gourock – Dunoon ferry service, due to begin next summer - with bigger boats being a condition of the contract.

LOCH TRAGEDY TODDLERS NAMED

Two toddlers who died when the car they were in crashed into an Argyll loch on Wednesday afternoon have been named.

 

Police Scotland said they were Leia McCorrisken, aged three, and her two-year-old brother Seth (above).

 

Police say the children were from Argyll.

GET READY FOR THE FRIENDLY GAMES

Volunteers and committee members are already planning the finer details on the 2016 Inveraray Games – known as the friendly games.

 

The event, on Tuesday July 19  will see members of the Inveraray community give of their time to set up stalls, mark out tracks, build dance platforms and all the other work associated with a traditional highland games.
