The morning and evening commute has been disrupted of late by temporary traffic lights in place in Sandbank.

 

The three-way signalling interchange involves drivers using Rankin’s Brae and the High Road in both directions.

The World Day of Prayer

The world will witness a powerful phenomenon as the annual World Day of Prayer sweeps across the Christian world on Friday, March 3. A tidal wave of prayer that follows the day as the sun travels westwards across the sky.

 

This year it is the turn of Dunoon Baptist Church to act as host congregation. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the service at 2.15pm to join in with the prayers and the singing and to listen to the address. People from most of our town’s denominations will be taking part in the service, which is an excellent example of churches working happily together.

The first tenants of ACHA’s new five-home development in Dunoon’s Victoria Park got the keys to their properties earlier today (Friday).

 

MSP Michael Russell handed the keys over to two of the new tenants, Sammie Richie and Carol Black.

£1.3M Boost For Local Schools

Schools in Argyll and Bute are set to benefit from a fund designed to improve disadvantaged children’s’ education– to the tune of £1,304,400.

The cash, from the Scottish Government’s Pupil Equity Fund, will be divided among schools depending on the number of pupils between P1 to S3 who are eligible for free school meals. Awards are equivalent to £1,200 per pupil.

The unpopular Argyll Ferries vessels Ali Cat and Argyll Flyer will ply the Dunoon-Gourock route for a while yet after Transport minister Humza Yousaf today (Thursday) delayed the tender process for the route by nine months.
