CASH FOR WAITING ROOM "SPENT"

THE prospect of a permanent waiting room and ticket office at Dunoon Ferry Terminal looks distant this week after Argyll and Bute Council admitted it has spent the cash it had put aside for the building.

 

 

  

Since the town-centre ferry operation moved from the Victorian Pier to the nearby linkspan in 2011 the waiting and toilet facilities have been housed in portable buildings on what was intended to be a car marshalling area.

 The portable buildings were replaced in 2013 by newer portable buildings, the council confirming at that time it had cash earmarked for a permanent facility, the design of which would be dependent on the outcome of a feasibility study into the potential of running a car ferry from the town-centre.

 However, this week the council has admitted the earmarked cash has been spent on the restoration of the Victorian Pier.
