SNP’S MICHAEL RUSSELL VICTORIOUS

MICHAEL RUSSELL has been re-elected as the MSP for the Argyll and Bute Constituency.

 

  

The result was declared at 6.10 this morning (Friday) at Lochgilphead Joint Campus after ballot boxes transported by car, boat, and helicopter for counting.

In his victory speech, after thanking the returning officer and the other candidates, Mr Russell said: “My priority is to work hard for everybody in Argyll and Bute, regardless of how they voted.

  

The result was declared as follows:

 

Michael Russel (SNP) 13,561 (46.0%, -4.6%),

 

Alan Reid (Liberal Democrat) 7,583 (25.7%. +13.6%),

 

Donald Cameron (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) 5,840 (19.85, +1.5),

 

Mick Rice (Scottish Labour) 2,492 (8.5%, -6.8).

  

In the second, regional, vote The Scottish Conservatives took three seats, Scottish Labour toon two seats, SNP and Green took one seat each.

  

The turnout at the polls was 60.98%
