LOCH TRAGEDY TODDLERS NAMED

Two toddlers who died when the car they were in crashed into an Argyll loch on Wednesday afternoon have been named.

 

Police Scotland said they were Leia McCorrisken, aged three, and her two-year-old brother Seth (above).

 

Police say the children were from Argyll.

 

 

The bodies of the children were recovered from Loch nan Druimnean, north of Kilmelford, after the crash.

 

A 36-year-old woman was taken to hospital following the accident.

 

She was taken to hospital in Oban as a precaution and later discharged.

 

A coastguard helicopter and police dive teams from Greenock had scoured the loch after the alarm was raised at about 4pm on Wednesday. They were assisted by the Fires and Rescue service.

 

The car was recovered from at about 5am today (Thursday) and removed from the scene. The stretch of road involved has also been reopened.

 

The crash happened on the A816 Oban to Lochgilphead road, about 17 miles from Oban.

 

Conditions were said to have been very wet at the time, with surface water in many places on the road.
