POLICE Scotland has appealed for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy died following a road crash in Innellan, south of Dunoon, yesterday (Tuesday).

At around 4.15pm the boy was crossing the A815 at Innellan when he was struck by a Renault tanker truck being driven by a 56-year-old man.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Dunoon Hospital and later transferred by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he sadly died.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Paul MacPherson from the Divisional Road Policing Unit is appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact Dunoon Police Office through 101.
