GUIDE THEM HOME...
AT an emotional event in Tarbert this evening (Saturday) an electric candle was switched on by Mathew Ramsay of the Fishermen’s Mission. The Tarbert community turned out, vowing to keep the candle switched on until it ‘guides the boys home’.
Two fisherman, Duncan MacDougall and Przemek Krawczyk, from local boat Nancy Glen are still missing after the vessel sank in Loch Fyne on January 18.
The candle is housed in a case which features photographs of the missing men, thought to be still aboard the wreck, and the Nancy Glen iitself.
Speaking before the guiding candle was lit, Clyde Fishermen's Association chairman Kenny McNab said: "We will light a candle and that candle will stay lit until the boys are recovered from the Nancy Glen.
"It was a request that came from a fair number of people in the village who wanted to do this, so the harbour authority very kindly set it in motion.
"During everything that has happened in Tarbert over the last two weeks, the people have been absolutely amazing. The community spirit is strong."
Meanwhile fundraising to recover the men continues apace.
The Just Giving appeal has raised more that £201,000, and many local events are taking place this weekend to swell the coffers.
A quiz in the village last night raising £4,000, a burger van at the top of the Rest and be Thankful donating all sales of tea and coffee today raising more than £850 and numerous other heroic efforts are helping to ensure the boys will be brought home, and their families helped.
