The A83 remains closed this evening (Friday) after two cars collided south on Inveraray.
Police and emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash between Inveraray and Minard at around 4.20pm.
Police later confirmed that the incident involved a collision between two Renault Clio vehicles.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said this evening: “One driver, a 24 year-old man, has died at the scene of the incident. The driver and the passenger of the second vehicle are uninjured. Please be aware that a full road closure is in place as police continue their enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
A 66-mile diversions via Dalmally in place.
Sergeant Archie McGuire, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit, said tonight: “This is a serious road collision which has resulted in the death of a young man.
“I thank the public for their patience as we conduct our enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.
“I would appeal to any witnesses to please contact the Argyll and West Dunbartonshire divisional road policing unit via the 101 number.”
