HEADS turned on Dunoon prom today (Thursday) towards an unusual sight on the river.

A massive control tower for the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales passed Dunoon on its way to Rosyth.

Carried on a barge towed by the Multi-Purpose Offshore Vessel Esvagt Connector, the structure will be taken around the north of Scotland, bound for the River Forth naval dockyard.

Prince of Wales is the second Queen Elizabeth carrier to be built. They are constructed in sections in a number of locations – including BAE on the Clyde – before final assembly takes place at Rosyth.
