NEW BOATS FOR DUNOON

TRANSPORT Minister Derek Mackay has given Cowal an early Christmas present – by promising two new vessels for the Dunoon-Gourock route.

 

 

 

In a letter to Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell the transport minister confirmed that ‘the award of contract will be awarded in good time, before the current contract is due to expire in June 2017’.

 

Mr Mackay went on to say: “I can confirm that replacement tonnage will be a feature of the new contract. However, a letter from the European Commission written in February was recently released by Transport Scotland which makes for uncomfortable reading for for those campaigning for the reinstatement of a town-centre vehicle carrying ferry.
